As a member of APOC, I am glad to see that our organization's grant funds are being put to good and practical use "on the ground" in Spain. To learn more about the grant program, see http://www.americanpilgrims.org/grant-program . I encourage all U.S. pilgrims to join the APOC, and for those living in the vicinity of one of the local or regional chapters to get involved in the chapter activities. For example, our local chapter (Colorado Front Range) offers information programs for the general public, mentoring and guidance for prospective pilgrims, group hikes (snow shoeing in winter), an annual potluck picnic on the weekend nearest St James Day, a touching shell ceremony each year to issue shells and blessings to first-time pilgrims, periodic meet-ups at local tapas restaurants and other social gatherings, and similar Camino-related activities.
