Hola, peregrinos,
as I've mentioned elsewhere, I will be walking the Camino Primitivo with my son in late Sept/early Oct. We are both keen walkers, used to 30+km days even in hilly terrain. My quest for direct flight (with only a train connection to get us back home) I have gained a day and a half compared to our original plan and the idea occurred to me, to add some distance before the start of the Camino itself in Oviedo. Are there any worthwhile options? I have been thinking about either starting walking directly from the airport itself (but have not checked yet albergue options in that area - on the Norte presumably) - but I was worried there might be too much road walking. Another idea was to take a bus to Gijón a start from there on the GR 100 to Oviedo. Has anyone done something similar? Any other nice options?
Another question: when we hiked the C.Francés back in the day with my (now) wife, we followed the pattern of reaching the end of the day-etappe around mid-day or early afternoon. This time I would like to walk for a longer time (and include some breaks during the day) and reach the overinight albergue later in the afternoon/early evening. Will I run the risk of finding the place full - or would it be "safe" to do it this way in early October?
Thank you!
