Stages on the Norte from Bayonne?

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
Bayonne
Biarritz - short day since I wanted to swim!
St Jean de Luz
Hondarribia
Pasai Donibane
San Sebastian

Stayed at a parochial in St Jean, a true Airbnb bedroom (lady lived there, too) in Pasai because nothing else was open, and a cheap hotel in SS because we wanted to stay out late.

It's an enjoyable path from Bayonne to Hendaye, and from there train to Irun, or ferry over to Hondarribia. It's a short walk between Irun and Hondarribia. We started the del Norte once from Irun and twice from Hondarribia. I highly recommend a visit - even just a few hours is well worthwhile. It's a wonderful town - if you decided to stay in Hondarribia rather than Irun, the del Norte is marked from both Irun and Hondarribia, with the paths converging within a short distance.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Just a heads up: I found the markings from Bayonne to Bidart nearly nonexistent, so just keep that in mind as you prepare for your journey (GPS on phone was good to have).

I walked from Bayonne to St. Jean de Luz and then from there straight to Irun. From Irun I walked to Las Doce Tribus, which is a donativo about 4K outside of San Sebastián.

This is such a beautiful way. Buen Camino!

I would love to stay in Hondarribia, but can't find anything reasonably priced.
Yes it’s expensive. We stayed at Hotel San Nikolas but we were two so not so expensive pp. But you can walk there or bus from Irun and back to Irun for the night. A few hours strolling around the low and high town in the late afternoon / evening knowing you have a relatively short first day to Pasajes. Perhaps an aperitif in the big square outside the Parador 😎

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
I'd like to do a short day into San Sebastián so that I can enjoy the town, staying in Pasajes de San Juan.
Or double-dip with a city bus. The bus picks up right at the ferry when you cross at Pasajes, and will have you in downtown in 20 minutes.....and back the next morning.

Does anyone know the Albergue at Zarautz will open this year or not? Thank you! If not, what do you recommend, stay at Getaria?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I have a friend who yesterday finished walking from Biarritz to Irún, and she reports that there has been a lot of erosion. Some stretches of the trail are closed off with a wooden barrier. She also reports, though, that everyone just ignores the closures, climbs over, and continues carefully on. She made it to Irún with no problem.

It looks like the municipal albergue in Zarautz is no more. It's not on Gronze nor on apps like Wise Pilgrim and Buen Camino.
Thank you for letting me know, I am starting close to the end of June from Irun, starting to look into this route more.

Planning on walking Norte-Primitivo starting about June 10, 2025. Are the albergues very busy at that time and also what will the weather be? I did this the end of August and September of 2017 and...
