I am planning to arrive in Santiago late Saturday 17 March 2018, and get to Padron or Vilanova de Arousa the next day. It seems that there are busses to, and shops open (on Sunday) in the former, but I am wondering if I can get a bus to the latter, and if I can whether there will be any shops open there. Thanks for reading. Mark

Jill, thanks for this. Are there any shops open in Santiago on Sunday? I could stock up on provisions, then get the train to Vilagarcia de Arousa :-). It would cut out what seems to be a dull section, and my current itinerary doesn't allow for any rest days. I could start the real walking on Monday to Armenteira. Mark

Hi Mark, Santiago is a big place, so I’m sure you can buy provisions on a Sunday. Maybe somebody else can help you out with exactly where. Not sure what you want to buy to carry with you. I usually have breakfast at or near the albergue where I am staying, and lunch (usually the “menu del dia”, as my main meal of the day) at a restaurant wherever I happen to be at the time (about 2pm). Then tapas in a bar in the evening. No problem finding bars and restaurants that are open on Sunday in Spain! Vilanova de Arousa has a couple of nice places at the harbour.
