My wife and I expect to arrive in Santiago on 26 Sep and stay for three nights. We are finding accommodations to be difficult to find. We’d like to be within approximately 10-15 minutes from the cathedral/old city. Does anyone have recommendations? Thanks in advance.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Without a doubt : Hostal Suso. Five minutes walk from Cathedral.
Please book directly. They only put a limited amount of rooms on bookingsites.

Superfriendly.
Very quiet.
Their bar/ resto downstairs serves great food.

I did a quick hotel search and was surprised by the lack of accommodations, but did see availability at the Apartamentos Turísticos Cancelas by Bossh Hotels. Not cheap: $105/night. I would check out the hostel recommended above as well as Ivar's list here.

Just FYI, I too am in Bristow! Buen Camino!

Thanks. I tried Hostal Suso, and they are not available on our dates. We have since found a place. 🙂

Jarrad, thanks for the input. We have found a place. Bristow! Wow! Maybe we could trade Camino stories someplace closer to home. 🙂

I'm currently staying at the Hostal Costa Azul prior to starting the Camino Fisterra. It's very convenient. It's clean and has 2 bed rooms. It's like a simple hotel. Beds are made prior to arrival and towels are included. 2 shared bathrooms for 4 bedrooms.

Oxford Suites just behind the Parador and steps from the square. Great clean rooms with good rates. Not sure of availability on short notice but worth a shot.

For people's reference, I finished the Primitivo last weekend and stayed 2 nights at a hostal called Pico Sacro, just a few steps from the Cathedral square. I would recommend it.

I can recommend the Hotel Windsor it's located on da Repuplica de El Salvador. I stayed there last year and I payed about £140 for 2 nights.

We are as I speak in the Seminario Menor some 10 minutes walk from the cathedral. It has dormitories and twin rooms. Austere looking building, but nicely converted into pilgrim accommodation, modern showers and brilliantly located for the town provided you’re happy to walk up one last hill 😊
