Airline & Airport Updates
Cheap flights carrier Ryanair has announced the launch of two new London Gatwick flights to Barcelona Girona and Alicante.
The new services will begin on December 18th, with the airline flying to Girona once-daily and Alicante twice-daily. The new routes increase Ryanair's operations from Gatwick to five.
Commenting on the new services, Ryanair chief executive Michael O'Leary said that, by 2009, the low-cost airline would bring its low fares and no fuel charges to an estimated 65 million passengers.
"Ryanair is delighted to announce two new routes to/from London Gatwick to Barcelona and Alicante from 18th December," he said.
To celebrate the announcement of the new services, Ryanair released 500,000 free seats for travel throughout Europe in December, January and February.
Ryanair celebrated the opening of its 26th base at Reus airport earlier this month, with the airline launching new domestic routes to Santander, Seville, Santiago de Compostela and Palma de Mallorca.
