Revised credential design with space for stamps on front and back

Time of past OR future Camino

In 2024 I noticed that the design for the official Cathedral credentials had changed. Credentials I obtained from the Cathedral in Donastia in August 2024, as well as from the Pilgrim's office in Santiago in September and October no longer included a map on the backside. Instead, the back included additional panels for sellos.

I figured "ah hah!" they are serious about the 2 stamps everyday requirement, and now the credential would support that requirement.

When I completed my last camino in November, as is my habit, I picked up a couple of fresh credentials from the Pilgrim's Office so I would be ready for my next trip.

In light of the recent news about new rules for receiving a Compostela, I was curious and this morning I took a look at the credentials I obtained in November... They are the "old design" with the map on the back!

I think they were trying to get rid of old inventory or something in preparation for the recent announcement.

I really liked the new design, as the new credential could fully support my gradually formed sello hoarding habit.

Do the credentials that @ivar is offering from this site have the empty panels on the back? If so I'll order some now.

The ones I sell (that I got from the pilgrims office) does not have the map on the back but more spaces for stamps. You can see this from the photos here:

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Happy to know! I recently ordered two, I noticed the difference but didn't connect the dots!

Adding the QR code to photograph / scan and get to the registration site to record your information to obtain a Compostela is a brilliant idea! It should help speed the process even more.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Ivar, if you have an old design which I purchased previously, will the Albergues have any issues with these? I am doing 3 Caminos next year but not chasing any certificates.

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.
2nd ed.
I walked the Camino Frances from SJPP with the new double sided ppt in Sept/Oct 2024 and got 1-2 stamps per day and used all of the spots. So if they want guaranteed 2 stamps every day they will have to add more panels. Many people take much longer than I did so will require more stamping spots.

One thing to be aware of...if you are planning on framing your credential (as many first-timers do), you should make sure you do not have stamps on the back. Get two identical credentials. Once you've filled up the front side of credential #1, switch to using the back side of credential #2. This will make it easier to frame both on your return.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!

This first timer didn’t think of that, but my clever framer created a double sided frame and matted the back side too. Of course I have to take it off the wall to see it but at least the back side is mot covered up in a way it is forever covered. Once I got to the point where two stamps/day were required I put the second stamp on the back so the back is mostly duplicates. But I wanted to preserve the map too and not cover it up in the framing process. In the picture you obviously only see the front but the back ofn the long one looks exactly the same
