St Jean Pied de Port (SJPP) to Roncesvalles - This is often Day 1! Discussion of the 2 alternate routes, and also the accommodation options in SJPP, Roncesvalles, and points in-between.

Winter albergues - The linked page is updated in November each year, to list the albergues on the Camino Francés that will be open over the winter. It is still advisable to check at the time of walking, because circumstances can change. Also please note that the Napoleon route from SJPP to Roncesvalles is closed from Nov 1 to at least March 31 every year.
