On a few sites like the Buen Camino and WIse Pilgrim app it lists the Albergue Casa Rosa, Buen Camino say temporarily closed. On Gronze.com the albergue is not even listed. Does anyone have up to date information on whether this albergue is going to reopen or is it permanently closed? Thanks

See this thread. It appears they are closed permanently.

I was hoping to stay here but all is not lost.

There is the Hostal de Torre offering rooms for 42 euro per person.

Also Gronze states the following:

Those who decide to spend the night in this town should know that, in addition to conventional accommodation, the City Council makes the municipal sports center available to pilgrims; you must go to the Town Hall (tel. +34 987 460 181) or to the Bom-Vita bar-restaurant (tel. +34 653 478 436), located in front of the sports facilities.

Gronze also states that there are special rates for pilgrims at Hostal de Torre. Tempting, a mattress in the sports centre in April may be a little bleak.

I agree about the bleakness. You could always ask for the keys just to check it out. I have a feeling that they might only be mats not a real mattress. I can sleep in alot of spartan and bleak conditions but I do draw the line at sleeping on a mat! I would need a chiropractor in the morning!

I can't find the Hostal de Torre website and Expedia says my dates are booked out. Looks like I'll have to go upmarket.

Hostal La Torre - 987 460081 or www.hrlatorre.com. I'd contact them directly - they're a roadside hostal, pretty big, and must get a lot of passing trade, so won't make all their rooms available online.

I contacted Casa Rosa in October and they told me they are shut permanently. Hostal de Torre has a pilgrims rate of 22 euros. Nice rooms and a good bar and restaurant.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Send them an email. Just because they are booked on Expedia (Did you try Booking) they may still have rooms. Most hotels do not make all of their available rooms open to sites like Booking/Expedia. You may also get a better rate.

Mucho gracias. He enviado un correo electronico

Let us know if you hear from them.

I don’t think the current owners of the Hostal Torres use any third party booking services, which is probably why expedia shows nothing available. And I would be surprised if they do much via email. But I could be wrong.

My impression was when I was there last summer that they do their business the old fashioned way, on the phone. No WhatsApp either if I remember right.
