Hello all! My wife and I will be taking my mother to visit Santiago in May, before we do a river cruise. She has been keen to see it after all our Camino stories. I was wondering if anyone has a good transportation suggestion for a pickup at airport in Porto, travel direct to Santiago?
I see car hire like ‘My Day Trip’, which works but a little pricey , never used Uber….but soliciting suggestions from the Camino crowd I know have worked every angle and tried every trick!
Thanks!

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Thanks for your reply Bradypus- we are looking at this as well, but was hoping for the quick, private options as well.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Caminofacil... they are brilliant, my friend and I used them several times over last couple of Camino Portuguese and will do so again this year. Contact them and they will give you a quote, you can organise the time and place months ahead, and they are incredibly reliable. Highly recommend!

Direct from the airport? I would just go with the bus. The ALSA service is very comfortable and makes a stop about half way in Vigo, enough time to grab a coffee and stretch your legs. It's also way cheaper than the other options.

You won't do it a whole lot faster in a taxi and with a lot less comfort. Same with a hire car, though you would have some flexibility with that. You could fly too, if you could find a schedule that fits with your arrival at Porto but really, I think the bus, door to door, would be your least stressful option..

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

We know there is a train from Porto to Vigo - only 2 1/2 hrs. You could change trains there or get a private car from there. Renfe is the train line

With respect, the guy is looking for simple, affordable and direct means of getting from Porto Airport to Santiago. Your suggestion to go all around the houses with the metro into the city, then the train, then change again in Vigo for another train or a hire car..

It doesn't sound like a simple solution for a lone traveller, much less so for three possibly weary travellers with luggage in tow. The first solutuon offered by Bradypus is by far the easiest option in the circumstances... in my view.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Thanks all, I knew this forum would have seen, tried and experienced every possible method, and many options are appreciated.
I am not worried about my wife or I, but after a long flight, I would like to make my 80 year old mother as comfortable as possible.
Thanks for your help.
