Polarsteps and FindPenguins accounts - share so we can follow each other

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
I am planning to use Polarsteps for the first time for my next camino. Maybe it would be nice to share Polarsteps accounts here, so we could follow each others caminos?
Many of us use Find Penguins, which is very similar to Polar Steps and share our blogs.

Ah, I wasn't aware of similar apps! Maybe change the name of the thread in something more general?

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I have requested to follow you to see how it works thanks for sharing! I walk in the fall and think it will be great to share
I just uploaded a trip of last year. Would be good to know if you get an automated translation in English (I wrote in Dutch).

I have just been testing FindPenguins and find it rather user unfriendly on my laptop. Hopefully it will be better on the app. Most likely I'll do (more elaborate) updates in Dutch on PolarSteps and shorter ones in English on FindPenguins. Leaving in a couple of weeks for the Sanabrés!

It’s annoying in not recording multiple ‘footprints’ in order within a multi-day walk.

Are you sure you haven’t inadvertently changed the date you want the footprint to have? If you go to the edit function in the “out of order” post, you can see the date that it has been assigned. I think it may automatically assign the date you start to write the post, but I’m not sure — it might be the date you actually post it. But in any event you can change it.

I just saw that FindPenguins has added what I think is a very nice feature — at the end of your trip, the posts get automatically re-ordered, in chronological order first to last. So someone reads about your 2023 camino after you’re done, it will show up with the first post at the beginning. While you’re posting, obviously, the top post is the most recent post, so the thread is in reverse chronological order.

You should be able to follow me now. Although there is nothing to see yet...

I started uploading former holidays on Polarsteps. I am still doubting which one to choose (or both). Polarsteps seems to be more common in my surroundings, but Findpenguins has the cool Camino group. This is the link: https://findpenguins.com/group-tracking/camino-de-santiago/live

I am again having troubles... First of all, how do you find this group in the app or on the website if you don't have the URL? And second, how can I connect a future trip to that group? I created my trip, but it doesn't show up in the soon to travel section...

@Luka
seems if you click on the link you are providing and then click on the little info (!) icon this pops up:
A group tracking for all travelers walking the Camino de Santiago, powered by Casa Ivar, the home of the Camino Forum & FindPenguins.

See where other pilgrims are and communicate with them.

You are all more than welcome to join!

INTERESTED IN YOUR OWN GROUP TRACKING?
if you click on Join button and then sign in with your FP account - it all links

then click on FAQ and it tells you how to - basically all you got to do is activate the Tracker and it does the tracking for you

good luck

Thanks @CWBuff! The thing is, I already am a member. But only my former trip shows up there, not the new trip that I created. Might have to do something with that tracker then.

@Luka you know now that you mention it - only my "Camino" trip is showing. While not Caminos I took 4 trips since and I would think they would've indeed be visible
Perhaps its a question we may pose to the people at FP - they may be able to figure it out

Yup, I am close to giving it up as well. I have found it rather user unfriendly, also on my last Camino when I tried it out for the first time.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
@OSUbuckeye85 - i don't think there is a "consensus" - some of us like Polarsteps and some - FindPenguins.
I do believe that FP allows you to share the tracking here.
See Luka's post #20 and mine #22

Good luck and Buen Camino

Most read last week in this forum

Is this new, or did I just stumble upon it now? In any event, I’m loving the Ivar app - good things all around.
