Planning to Walk the Camino in May 2007

Luifer

New Member
Hi,

My name is Luis and I am from Massachusetts. I am planning to walk part of the Camino next May 2007. Since, most of my friends think the idea of a camino is a Holiday Inn with a color TV I am walking the camino alone. Although, I am in good shape, I am 56. I plan to spend about 8 days in Spain. Any suggestions as to where should I start the Camino.

Best Regards,

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Since you only have 8 days you should consider Sarria (a bit more than 100 km). This is the last starting point to Santiago to be eligible for the Compostela (official diploma delivered by the Cathedral  )

Buen Camino.

8 days

It sounds like you will be in Europe more than 8 days, that the Camino is part of something longer. If this is true then where will you be and what is your interest in the Camino? Then I can be more specific in my recommendations.

8 days

I planto be in Europe for about 12 days of which I want to dedicate about 8 for traveling the camino. I understand that El camino is much longer, however, I just only have about 8 days available. Since you ask why I wanted to travel el Camino for many reasons especially for the experience and for the quite time it should give you to think about thing.

regards,

Where on the Camino?

Since you already are in Europe and you want to experience the Camino I suggest that you start at the nearest point to where you already are. If you are in France go to St. Jean Pied de Port. If you are in England fly to Santiago and walk to Finestere. If you are in Portugal just start in Lisbon.

If you plan to return to the Camino again you can pick up where you left off.

I remember seeing a movie titled something like, "If this is Tuesday this must be Belgium". In the movie, as I remember it the tourists never really experienced anything of the places they visited.

Sadly, I believe, Shakespere had it right when he said it takes a full cycle of the moon to change our point of view.

Hola Luis! I'm walking the Camino in May 2007 as well, but I'm starting at SJPdP. I hope to start in the first week of May, so maybe we'll meet up if you are going to Spain later in the month! :)
