Pilgrim dinner time at Arthez de Bearn - Gite de la Boulangerie Brousse?

Hello all,

I was hoping someone may know what time roughly the dinner is in Gite de la Boulangerie Brousse in Arthez de Bearn. I have asked via text and email, but no response yet. Is there a loose universal dinner time for some French gites, or will each gite differ?

As I'm walking about 2 hrs and 10kms from the Artix train station, south of AdB this coming Sunday, I don't want to miss my first pilgrim meal on my Camino.

Thanks you in advance, if anyone knows.

Hi @ThomCatStevens

No set time for dinners. I’d say around 7 but aim to arrive by 6. I would not be concerned unless you expect to arrive later than that. If still same as when I stayed there (2014) the owner doesn’t live at the gite but he arrives with a delicious dinner. I really enjoyed that gite. 😎

Thanks J. I should have known that you’d know the answer. It’s on your recommendation that I’m going there! Thanks again.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If you are concerned about arriving late and haven’t heard I can cal the gîte. Exciting that you are almost on your Way 😎

When I stayed there in Spring 2018, the proprietor did indeed bring dinner, having checked how many pilgrims there were staying the night. We had become quite anxious because he was very late (about 8.30), but we needn't have worried. Dinner was superb and plentiful; breakfast in his actual high street bakery shop was also generous and, by contrast, available early!

Oh yes petit déjeuner in the boulangerie was such a treat. 🥐 🥐 ☕☕️. We will be walking on the Le Puy and Frances in October / November. Looking forward to staying at this gite again 😍

By far the best and most convivial meal I had on the Le Puy route! The food is fresh, delicious and plentiful and the wine comes from a bottomless bottle! Our host actually enjoyed watching us enjoy ourselves-but he doesn't answer messages, emails or anything else! I think he's too busy cooking delicious dinners!

The proprietor was recovering from a hip operation week before last so he had arranged the evening meal in town for us at the corner cafe, salon de the. It started at 7 and one woman dealt with 25 or so pilgrims very efficiently and the food was fantastic. Bernard was able to serve breakfast since he could do so using his cane. I think when he is able, he will reume the evening meal at the gite, but for now its in town.

Hi there, I'm considering walking from Le Puy to St. Jean next spring if I can get my French up to par. I'm looking on advice on a few things: - Would it be too cool and rainy to start walking...
