Hi- We're walking from Porto to Santiago starting Mar. 16. We haven't found any information on whether you pay in cash or if you can use cards at the Albergues. Any info would be appreciated.

Cash for everything except for hotels and restaurants in the bigger towns. When you see you're running out, stop at the first ATM to get more; you don't want to be stranded with no money. On some parts of the Camino you may have 2 or 3 days without an ATM so be warned.
All the ATM's we found were 4 digit code, as were our cards. However the instructions with the cards said that if the machine had a 6 digit code then the card would wotk if 00 was added at the end.
Anyone had to do this and been successful?
