yes it’s closed until 12 may they’re laying new asphalt. however, me and three other pilgrims found 2 walk-arounds, so the high route itself isn’t closed, it’s just the way to get to the start of it

Yes, you take the detour to the left, climb through the brush to the low route, turn right (double back) until you get to the fork. Chose not to do that today as the weather was not great so not many views for the extra effort.
