? New Municipal Albergue in Mieres ? Any Updates?

Too many to count!
This past fall, I walked the Camino de San Salvador, late September. When I visited the site of the supposed "new minicipal albergue" in Mieres del Camino, at the old Vasco train station in the center of town (where I thought it was supposed to be), there was absolutely no evidence of any albergue, or any construction - nothing at all - no signs, no information, nothing, nada!

I found this old thread about the subject and nothing more recent on this forum, from 2021 when it was announced that the University opened for pilgrims after the old municipal albergue in La Peña, just north of town, closed:

When I did a google search, even in Spanish, absolutely nothing came up regarding a new municipal albergue in Mieres. I may be crazy, but I can't find the article that I thought I saw that referred to the site at the antique train station as the place where the new albergue was to be built.

Does anyone here, with an ear to the ground know the story, or has any plan for an albergue in Mieres been cancelled?

Gronze lists the Residencia Universitaria de Mieres with the following remark (translated): "Student residence that temporarily welcomes pilgrims of the Camino de Santiago until a new hostel is built. You have to call the day before." The photos look like a dormitory. The other accommodations listed in Mieres are two hotels and the Pachin Hostel, with photos that look like a nice hotel room.

Yes, all true, but still sheds no light on the actual "new hostel."

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
From the horse’s mouth, so to speak. Here’s the response to the inquiry I sent (along with a link to the news article from several years ago) to the Ayuntamiento. My rough translation:

I am writing to inform you about the Albergue project in the building that is currently occupied by the Municipal Center of Social Services. As of today, nothing has progressed since the publication of that article in the Diario El Comercio. But this month we have finished the renovation of another building, where the new Center of Social Services will move. The transfer will take place shortly, freeing up the space for the new Albergue.

But for right now, everything is the same, and the university residence continues to accept pilgrims, with a certain number of rooms reserved for this purpose.

I think that we shouldn’t hold our breath.

If you are willing to walk a bit further, there is a nice albergue in El Rollu. I remember the fresh figs from the tree by the porch that we were given when we arrived there.
Yes, we stayed there - the Casa Alba. Alba is a bit eccentric, but she treats pilgrims very well! Her place is comfortable with a wonderful kitchen, and gardens like you say, but you have to bring your own food as she is not near anything. She does supply breakfast, which was wonderful.
