There is a new guidebook from the FFRP out. I got an email from Amazon in France that it is now available, but I'm leaving an a week, so I'll have to look for it in Arles, or get my niece in Paris to pick one up. Anyone know of a store which carries it?

This series of guides is my favorite, even though my French is not great. They have by far the best maps. The maps in the Rando Editions series are poor, and the CSJ versions have none.

Is it really necessary to reserve the gites in France or is it ok just to arrive? I'm mainly referring to stages from Lourdes - Orolon Sainte Marie- Somport and before end of October
