Great news!
There is a new albergue in Mesão Frio. It’s located in the 'Casa dos Albergaria' on Rua do Balcão, just after passing the Pelourinho, across from the 'Mercearia do Balcão,' where you can also pick up some food and supplies.
To stay at the albergue, you must contact them in advance (preferably Monday to Friday) at: biblioteca@cm-mesaofrio.pt, turismo@cm-mesaofrio.pt, or +351 254 890 106 (no Whatsapp).

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Luis has just posted this on FB Torres Group.

I just heard from a pilgrim on the Torres who slept in Mesão Frio a few days ago and slept with the Bombeiros. Apparently no mention was made of this new albergue!

The Torres seems to be one of the few caminhos in Portugal where the Bombeiros frequently open their doors to pilgrims!
Soonwon Lee (@camino8004) posted on FB with photos of Casa dos Albergaria, where he stayed on October 10. It looks like the Bombeiros were the ones who directed him to this new location: Captura de Pantalla 2024-11-11 a las 18.42.08.webp

Weird. I wrote today to the two email addresses in the post, saying I was a pilgrim whobwould arrive Thursday and I hoped to stay in the pilgrim albergue. The response I got was:
Boa tarde,
The translation seems to be that pilgrims are staying with the firefighters.

Perhaps the albergue is temporarily closed? Or not really open yet? Although the photos make the latter unlikely.

Either way you have a place to rest your head. I stayed at many Bombeiros on my very first Caminho from Lisboa to Santiago in 2015. So much fun and they were incredibly kind indeed, offering shampoo, shower gel etc...
