Many Pilgrims?

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
You’ll see a lot of pilgrims but also a lot of vacationers. Both compete for accommodations during the summer months, so plan accordingly.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
When I walked it in May-Jun, there’d be maybe 25+ other pilgrims you’d recognise and keep on bumping into at albergues etc. There were more on the trail, but for me around that’s the number i’d recognise and chat with in passing, and some of whom I’d get to know better - a handful with whom months later I’m still in regular contact.

Some pilgrims will leave/join the Camino at Bilbao, some at Santander, Some will head for Oviedo after Villaviciosa.

I'm planning on the Camino del Norte in June. Will I see many pilgrims? Is the Camino well marked?
Thank you in advance.
The Camino is well marked. Camino de Norte is less crowded than Francés (at least until The Way 2 will be displayed...)
Be prepared to 2 steeper stages:
  • Irun-San Sebastian
  • Villaviciosa-Gijon
In Gijon last summer it was difficult to find cheap accommodations...
If you spend a night in Caborredondo, do not miss the donativo Albergue de peregrinos Izarra. They are very kind.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
re navigation, I always download offline maps from the Wise Pilgrim apps/ Buen Camino app for the particular Camino, just as a back up if needed/I want to take a diversion. As many of us here who’ve walked the Norte do tend to say, it’s absolutely worth reading up on the various alternative coastal stretches worth taking when the official Norte wanders too much away from the coast. There’s an excellent guide to the alternatives available to download from the forum, and they do hook you back up to the official route. If you’re interested in taking alternatives, I’d recommend downloading mapy.cz or MAPS.ME for offline navigation.

As In Gijon, the best bet for most people is the Boogalow hostel (private hostel on the beachfront). In Jun I paid €33 for 1 night, in a female 4 bunk room. Nice communal areas, very comfortable with lots of extras, and super central with supermercados and other stores close by.

I had the same experience with pilgrims leaving at the cities but I walked it about 7 years ago. After Oviedo virtually everyone took the Primitivo. I continued on the Norte and didn't see more than a few pilgrims and often I was the only person in an albergue until Sobrado dos Monxes and then there were more pilgrims doing the last 100K. I also started at the very end of October so by the time I got there it was almost December.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Dear All, After my great experience last year between Bilbao and Santander, I am planning to walk 5 days from Santander to Ribadesella. I will not do Santander Santillana del mar full. So either...
