Madrid to O'Cebreiro

Hello,

I walked SJPdP to Santiago in March/ April 2015.
My wife wants to go this year and experience a small part of everything I've been telling her about.

In April we have just 7 - 10 days to walk. I'd like to start in O'Cebreiro so she can see it.

Unfortunately I'm not having much luck finding transportation options from Madrid (where we fly in) to O'Cebreiro.
I'm trying both Alsa and Renfe sites. I know I'll probably need to get close with the train, then hop off and take a taxi to our starting point.
What train stops are nearest O'Cebreiro?
Because our time is limited I'd like a direct train to get near instead of multiple changes (Train to bus.. etc)
I hope I'm not asking to much.

Please would someone help me?

Try www.Rome2Rio.com for transport possibilities. Cite Pedrafita do Cebreiro for your destination which is close (4k) to O Cebreiro.

Hi @Markaphx and lets see if we can help. Looks to me like there is an Alsa bus direct from Madrid to Pedrafita do Cebreiro. The other option is a train to Pontferada, then a bus, but that would take longer I think.

Monbus operates one bus daily (0645) from Pedrafita do Cebreiro to Sarria with a stop at O Cebreiro.

note that there is a town called Pedrafita between Pedrafita do Cebreiro and Lugo ... don't confuse the two.
