**CAMINO FRANCES SJPP-SANTIAGO (2019)
hi, long time no contact...almost a year ago we started our camino, leon-santiago....uufff great memories and totally IN LOVE with EL CAMINO !!!!
Planning on doing the whole camino next year

Could you help me with...how do We get from Madrid (airport) to SJPP ?

Thanks and BUEN CAMINO !!!!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
We took the morning Renfe train (7am'ish) from Madrid Atocha station to Pamplona, hopped in a taxi at the Pamplona train station to SJPDP (stopped at a bar the driver knew for coffee and bocadillas on the way) and we in SJPDP by noon'ish same day. Lots of time to check-in at the Pilgrim Office and explore the Citadel in the afternoon. Not the economy way to get from A to B but really convenient and a big time-saver if your days are limited.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
1. SJPdP is connected to Pamplona by CONDA (ALSA) bus. Schedule is seasonal.

2. SJPdP is connected to Gare Bayonne by SNCF train. 4 times daily all year.

1. Via Pamplona:

a. Fly from MAD to PNA

b. Renfe train from Madrid Puerta de Atocha to Pamplona

c. Autocares PLM or ALSA bus from Intercambiador de Avenida de America to Pamplona. ALSA schedule involves transfer at Zaragosa or Soria. Some buses make a halt at Madrid Airport T4.

2. Via Bayonne has several mix and match options.

Hendaye to Bayonne.

Take SNCF train from Gare d'Hendaye to Bayonne. Alternatively take Transports64 bus 816 from Gare d'Hendaye to Place de Basques ... about 1 km from Gare Bayonne.

Madrid to Irun/Hendaye.

a. Renfe train from Madrid Puerta de Atocha to Irun/Hendaye. If train terminates in Irun (some terminate in Hendaye) take Metro Donostialdea from Irun Colon to Hendaia station.

b. Take ALSA bus from Avenida de America or Airport T4 to San Sebastian. The new bus station is located next to San Sebastian Renfe Station. Take Renfe Cercanias from San Sebastian to Irun Renfe Station

c. Fly MAD to San Sebastian EAS. EAS is located about 5 km from Gare d'Hendaye. Take a taxi.

San Sebastian to Bayonne

ALSA and PESA offer bus service from San Sebastian to Bayonne. ALSA goes to Gare Bayonne while PESA goes to Place de Basques.

Madrid to Biarritz

Fly MAD to Biarritz BIQ. BIQ is closest airport to SJPdP. Take Chronoplus bus #14 from Biarritz (Anglet) airport to Gare Bayonne.

Madrid Airport to Puerta de Atocha

a. Renfe Cercanias from Airport T4

b. EMT Madrid Aeropuerto Express bus #203

c. Madrid Metro

Madrid Airport to Avenida de America

a. EMT Madrid bus #200

b. Madrid Metro

We did this trip in June. We flew from Madrid to Biarritz on Iberia and it was only about $50. Then we treated ourselves to a ride on Express Bouricot from Biarritz to SJDP to make it easier since we had been traveling for so long to get there.

Thanks a lot everyone !!!!! You really helped us a lot !!!!! This is the Camino companionship !!!!
Buen Camino to all of you

Hi I'm travelling to Burgos to walk part of the Camino Frances next year and my options seems to be fly into Santander and coach to Burgos, or fly into Madrid, then coach to Burgos. Don't think...
Hello! I’ve been browsing the forum and there’s plenty of info for baggage transfers from stage to stage, where you pick it up daily, give it back and move on, however what I’m after is a service...
