Luggage Transfer Madrid to Santiago

Has anyone had experience transferring their suitcase from Madrid to Santiago using the El Camino con Correos service? We are doing further extensive travel after we finish our walk and would like to have our luggage waiting for us there. Also, can anyone confirm that the post office in Santiago is open on Sundays? Sunday will be the only chance we will have to collect. Thanks in advance.

The big Correos near the cathedral is open daily 0830-2030

Lots of reports on here of using Correos for bag transfer, but I’ve no personal experience.

You might consider asking to have it sent to the hotel where might stay as they will be open on a Sunday. This link does indicate Correos is open in Santiago on Sunday, but unsure if this is year round.

You can mail it to @ivar in Santiago. He has a pick up time on Sundays. Or, he will deliver it to your accommodation with enough advance notice and an extra fee. (at least this was the case a few years ago )

This link does indicate Correos is open in Santiago on Sunday

The link says that the Left Luggage service is available on Sundays, but post office services (which would include picking up a mailed suitcase) are Monday to Friday only.
