just back

I'm just back from walking the first three sections - SJPdP to Pamplona. My husband and I could only stay away for five days (two traveling and three walking) but we intend doing more in September.

We left SJPdP at 11.00 and arrived in Roncesvalles at 17.45. The first few kms were hard but we had trained for this section and managed to complete it without any problems. We did meet a few pilgrims who were suffering and I hope the two that we spoke to managed to make it to Orrison at least.

I was very surprised to see so few pilgrims, in fact we spent most of the three days alone but in Zubiri the hostal owner said that many pilgrims preferred to avoid the holy year due to the fact that it could be crowded.

I hope the pilgrims we had 'cena' with in the hostal Posada in Roncesvalles on 18th May are all well and continuing their 'camino' and 'buen camino' to all those starting out at this time.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Marianne,
How did you train for SJPP to Roncesvalles?.
Thank you.
