Is this Camino clothing heresy?

French are odd, salopette is the general word they use for coveralls, a boiler suit, but the proper French for them is 'bleu de travail' 'work overalls'... but those ones are dungarees in that link - a boiler suit, or c/overalls - covers the whole body but they don't have a specific word for dungarees for some reason.

Cambridge dictionary in real English ;)
Boiler Suit & Overalls - "a piece of clothing that covers both the upper and lower parts of the body and is worn especially over other clothes to protect them"
U.S. - coveralls

Dungarees - "a pair of trousers with an extra piece of cloth that covers the chest and is held in place by a strap over each shoulder"
U.S. - overalls
U.S. old-fashioned - trousers made of denim (= strong, blue cotton cloth)

That is pretty much how it works in the UK too. Dungarees are often denim material. They were fashionable for a period back in the day especially when a band called ā€˜Dexys Midnight Runnersā€™ had a smash hit called ā€˜Cā€™mon Eileenā€™ back in the early 80s and wore them!

Anyone for those wanting or even needing moreā€¦

Thank you for this. One of my sons way back when had to have one of these overall things; all the kids were wearing them. I used to wonder how that craze came about. Only thing is that the overalls had to be worn with one strap hanging off the shoulder.

Sorry to be the one to stop this threadā€¦ but since it is not really Camino related.. I will close it. Feel free to start a pm with the participants in this thread and continue there..

Buen Camino,
Ivar
