iPhone maps for Czech-German area

Time of past OR future Camino

Like so many technology puzzles, I have several pieces and perhaps someone else can help me put them together.

I have an iPhone 4S, and have loaded the Open Maps and Fernwandern apps. I know Peter Robins has the routes (Prague-Tillyschanz and Oberpfalzer Jakobsweg) on his site. I would like to get the maps for these routes loaded into one of the iPhone apps, or as a minimalist approach download as pdf files.

I can't quite make the connection. Anyone have any suggestions?

Holoholo automatically captures your footpaths, places, photos, and journals.
I'm leaving my research results here in the event they are useful to others.

This blog http://adventurealan.com/iphone4gps.htm provides a number of battery management strategies and reviews several GPS apps for the iPhone; GPS Kit was their top recommendation. GPS Kit supports topo maps offline http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8-2xNAx3us and several other common formats. It also supports the direct import of track files in .gpx format from Mail http://gpskit.garafa.com/groups/gpskit/wiki/88342/Data_Manager.html.

So, in summary, here are the steps:
(1) Load the GPS Kit app
(2) From within the app, download the map(s) for the area of interest
(3) Download the GPX track file from a source website
(4) Mail yourself the GPX file
(5) From iPhone Mail (the native mail app, not your ISP's substitute), tap and hold on the attachment file icon. You will have the option of opening the file in GPS Kit (among others - it also supports Fernwandern)
(6) Open the track file, and it will overlay the maps. Make sure the maps are fully downloaded - this may take a few minutes.

I must say, this worked very well for me. While it is true the routes are mostly quite well marked, there were usually several junctions every day where the marking was not clear, and having the gps track in hand was a godsend. There are not other pilgrims walking these areas, so you have to be able to sort it out yourself.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
