Too many and too often!
One of a number of local news reports on the "incredible" growth in numbers walking the Costa route this year. Up by more than 40% on the 2023 total. Which compares with a 12% increase more generally across all Caminos. Some suggestion that the Costa may soon overtake the more traditional central route as the most travelled variant of the Portugues. A remarkable growth over a very short period.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I have walked this route twice in November. Far less pilgrims then. The first time it rained and rained and rained virtually every day. But hey, I am on the camino and I was thankful and where else would I want to be. This year there was sun and sun and more sun. Loved it both times. If you can walk off peak times it is really quite wonderful.

I commenced this route on 14th August 2024 and had great weather. There were very few pilgrims on the Portuguese side and when I crossed the Minho River into Spain after leaving Vila Praia de Ancora that morning on a boat which I had booked on-line I did not see another pilgrim until I reached the other side of Guarda past the actual town. I noted in my diary that if you would like solitude you have it. The route was noticeably busier past Redondela and there was a couple of showers leaving Pontevedra however it was a stunningly scenic walk which I would happily undertake again.
