So…. Let’s just say that for a weird set of reasons, you can land in Spain Dec 11, and need only to be home by Dec 24.

Would you choose:

Fly into Madrid and take the train up to…. Ponferrada, to follow the Invierno? Or up to Ourense and walk the last bit of the Sanabres into SdC?

Or would you fly into Porto and walk up, maybe from Barcelos?

What’s more feasible, given that I adore Santiago and always want 2 days there…

I have winter gear. I should not walk in temperatures below -11 (causes asthma), so I aim to be indoors by the time it’s dropping around -7.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
All look good from here.
I have no experience of flying into Porto so I can’t comment there.
Flying into Madrid is my ‘go to’..
Invierno would be my pick but it might use up more days than you’d like from Ponferrada.

Most direct point to get to by train from Madrid though, would be Ourense - (Sanabrés).
Or you could continue a little further on train to Monforte de Lemos ; and do the last 100klm of the Invierno, or get out at San Clodio /Quiroga ..and make it slightly longer . You would still have time for a comfortable walk and time in Santiago de Compostela.

All the best & buen camino if it gets past being hypothetical.
