Hello all!

I'm heading to Spain next week to walk the Camino Norte. I'm very excited as I've walked the Francés route and am excited to be doing something new. My problem is that our train from Paris doesn't arrive until 23:04 so it will be too late to go to the Albergue de Peregrinos. I've already asked if they'll leave it open late for us and the answer was a resounding no!

So I've been searching for a budget pension or hostal, and it seems during high season many of these are double their usual price! I haven't been able to find anything for less than €70... I don't think I've ever spent that much on a hotel ever! Along the Francés route I was always able to find a pensión even in the touristy big cities for €35 or less. I would be very happy to camp and am almost tempted to sleep in the train station.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an economical place to sleep?

Thanks!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hello, Yallah. Here are a few suggestions. In Irun I stayed at a pensione about 5-10 minutes walk from the officina de tourisme, Pensione 'Marie Carmen', €20.

Yallah,

You can NOT stay in the Hendaye rr station during the night; it closes after the last train.

However there are three nearby possibilities for you to investigate. Directly across the street from the station is a simple bar with an amiable barman. I believe they have basic rooms over the bar.
Also nearby are two small hotels which are pleasant. Over the years at the end of past Caminos I have stayed in both. Closest is Hôtel de la Gare,1 Rue Déportes, tel. 05 59 20 81 90. Another is Hôtel Santiago, 29 Rue de Santiago, tel 05 59 20 00 94. You can further check these out on Google.

Bon Voyage and Buen Camino
