Hazards on the Camino Primitivo

Leaving Lugo: After crossing the river there is one place where the Camino goes under a bridge with a sharp turn at the end. It is a very short, but narrow, piece of road and use as a 'rat-run' by the locals. Keep to the left, listen and watch carefully.Using reflective gear/torch etc is a good idea.

Heights:- Some time back one member said that we never talked about steep drops and vertigo. A different sort of hazard, but important for some. The only place that comes to mind is between Berducedo and Grandas de Salime. At the 7km GR sign pointing left the track goes zig-zag down steeply with a long drop to the side. Those concerned should KSO on the wider (bike) track, then turn left on reaching the road. This will have its own hazards maybe.

In bad weather walk the road from Berducedo to Grandas and wear a reflective jacket. We would recommend wearing the jacket anyway between the dam and Grandas where the road is cut into the rock face, it really does help traffic see you.
