GPX download for Saint Jean Pied de Port - Santiago de Compostela

Ive found a GPX file on this forum for what seems to be an "Alternative Route", but can anyone please point me to a GPX file for THEE route?

I used their track for the Portuguese no probs!
Gives an English option at the top of the webpage
Yeah trecile is right hard to get lost;get the WisePilgrim Frances app it is very good; i just had the Gpx track as backup

I don't understand why anyone would NEED any electronic map to walk the Camino Frances.
Just follow the yellow arrows and the hundreds of pilgrims in front of you...

Herein lies the problem @Tincatinker ; you, I and very many others have walked this route and know that of the few difficulties one might encounter, route finding is certainly not one of them.

When the solution to everything these days is a fkn APP, it’s not entirely surprising that some will ask for an electronic solution to a simple ‘walk away from the rising sun’ problem.

I’m certain you’ll be familiar with Messers Barker and Corbett’s take on Mastermind? Specialist subject ‘answering questions before they were asked’?

Nobody has said they "need" a GPS track to walk the Frances. They don't, as pointed out by @trecile. Neither do we "need" editorial comment on the OP's simple question.

I recommend the tracks suggested in post #5 above.

As someone who has found themselves exploring new alignments both times I have walked the CF, I can understand the desire to have something more than than blind faith that I will be walking at a time when there are many pilgrims to follow or that I will never miss a marked turn because the yellow arrows are so obvious that I cannot but see them. It seems to me that only those that have been fortunate enough to never miss a flecha are adamant about the ease of route finding,

For the OP, the gpx file you have found was provided by @wayfarer in 2013, so might be out dated in some places. It would be hard to identify these. You might want.to look at the tracks provided by the Spanish Mapping agency (IGN) here, or those from the Dutch confraternity at the link provided by @woody66 earlier.

Sorry if it felt like public deridement. It wasn't my intention.
It's difficult these days to get a message across electronically without the benefit of facial expression or body language. I was simply stating my opinion, which was that you don't NEED a map. That's all. (caps for expression).
One thing is for certain on a public forum - there will always be differing opinions.
THAT is for SURE!

I have the 2013 one downloaded now. I think it will suit for my purposes. Good shout though re using Komroot prob better than Google Maps.

If you are faced with an alternative route, you follow the crowd and you are usually in the right place.

I just use the Camino specific apps that have gps tracks, like Wise Pilgrim and Buen Camino.

The Camino Francés is so well marked that GPX tracks are really unnecessary.

But hard to see from Australia - with all the wonders of Google I am able to "walk" every km of the route as a virtual tour even though at 79 I can no longer walk to the corner store, nor would my heart specialist allow me on a plane for 30 hours even if I could afford it

PLUS is will be available to others in my situation once it is complete AND for those actually walking the SavNav makes it dead simple to cross check on the yellow arrows.

But yes back in 1970 we just zoomed around Spain using a rough map and car compass (and the sun of course).

Horses for courses and the OP has not said WHY he is asking for a file of the route

I think it goes beyond the NEED. This board is evidence of the need of knowing/seeing things in advance.

Having maps (electronic or paper) for anything could be considered useless, it isn't like anyone could fall off the planet if they take the wrong turn.

But think of the joy some may experience following that route virtually on their phone. Or maybe they have some software they can stitch that route in, then with massive monitors or virtual headgear immerse themselves in the camino before they get there. Who knows.... different people and all that.

I agree. I know that electronic aids are not absolutely necessary - I planned and walked my first Camino without using the internet or a mobile phone at any point and I carried nothing electronic with me for that first journey. But now that these things are easily available and part of my everyday life I choose to make use of them. Which includes gps and mapping apps.
