A couple of suggestions to get the most from your Camino.
Harvest time is fast approaching and if you have been walking through Galicia (and of course you have) you will have seen that most of the people in the fields are ... well.... well over the age you are!
Harvest time is here. How would you like to volunteer you time to help out the people of Galicia. And I mean volunteer because Spain is in such an economic mess right now that nobody can afford to pay you...
In money that is.
In terms of their appreciation, well words will not express it and anyway since they would thank you in Galego, you woukdn't understand it anyway.
But you would.... Gratitude has no boundaries. Believe me since I moved to this little very quiet corner of Galicia to offer a retreat for pilgrims after they have finished their Camino I have found my neighbours absolutely (and perhaps surprisingly?) enthusiastic and very ready to welcome international pilgrims to this tiny corner called Carantona, just 9 klms from the Camino to Muxia.
Accommodation and meals here at The Little Fox House are "donativo": just give what you think is fair. Here you may find an opportunity to "decompress": to get ready for the journey home ...to where the Camino really begins. here is your time, books, movies, discussion, silence to help you do just that. And some incredibly quiet (especially river) places just five minutes away.
Maybe you might like to offer your help along the way...
(And if "big jobs" are not for you: help me with El Jardin de San Martin de Los Peregrinos, the long abandoned "garden" at the church in front of Foxy House which now is looking splendid. Or let's make jam together, or pilgrim cookies, or perhaps you can help clean up the little shrine by the river already started by a pilgrim from Germany...
Maybe you want to make mnusic...or sing?
The Little Fox invites those who "need" to be here. They say: You don't choose the Camino the Camino chooses you. Well in my experience, those who will get the best from this pilgrim "Post Camino Refuge" are perhaps chosen before they even begin.
Are you one of them?

I saw a video with a rather harsh criticism of a small, municipal albergue on one of the less traveled caminos. They paid 9€. I thought: What does it cost a small municipality to renovate and keep...
On my last Camino (2023) I noticed that there were lots of tourists. It reminded me of a couple of quotes that I have read since my first Camino (2015) “A tourist demands, a pilgrim is grateful”...
