I couldn’t get accommodation late March, i put it down to being semana santa so had booked 2 nights in Monesterio and planned to walk from Monesterio to Fuente then get the afternoon Alsa bus back to Monesterio, returning by bus the next morning to Fuente for the walk to Zafra. In the end the weather and floods made both routes impassible so had two nights in Monesterio and bussed to Zafra. Some pilgrims have been staying at Calzadilla de los Barros, a little further on than Fuente. What has been the experience of booking accommodation in Fuente de Cantos on VLDP this week? Or are pilgrim skipping ahead?
Cheers Steve
Thanks @WildPlace, our plan is walk to Calzdilla and bypass Fuente. Which bus line did you use in case I need that option? That is what I did when I walked. It is an additional 6k but it is not a difficult walk. I stayed here and it was very good.Th

I did the same. We had a quick pub afternoon it to eat and then just rocked up to the Albergue. The Mayor and let us in and afterwards we headded down to the pub for dinner as a group. Was a crazy day, we all sort of bonded over the tornado. edit- added some km markers from the way. That is what I did when I walked. It is an additional 6k but it is not a difficult walk.
