For about five years now, I've had a really sweet return trip home after my camino -- 9:15 am flight from Santiago to Madrid, 11:30 or noon flight to the US. It worked like a charm. I could even catch the airport bus from the Plaza de Galicia to save a few euros.
I just got an email from American Airlines that my flight time out of Santiago for my return trip home in July has been changed to 6:45 am. What?! Apparently the 9:15 flight is being discontinued, an outrage for all North American bound pilgrims who want to fly from Santiago and connect with flights leaving between 11:30 and 1:00 pm.
Not sure there is anything to be done, but it does make the idea about flying straight from Santiago to home less attractive for those of us who have to get on flights that typically leave in the late morning/early afternoon. Maybe this isn't a permanent cancellation, but I can't seem to find any information about what happened, and the American Airlines agents don't have a clue.
