Deleting posts

If possible, when a post is deleted, I recommend a way for the person posting to view the deleted post.
So he/she can learn wh—or protest an apparent mistake. I was just informed tht I had two posts removed from the same thread, one for being rude and one for asking "are you crazy?"

To the best of my memory, I only made one post in that thread, and I don't believe it was rude. Certainly wasn't intended to be, and wasn't even speaking to the original person's question. And I know it did not say "are you crazy?" although I think I saw someone else's post that did.

Also recommend a way for posts like this one to be seen by moderators only.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
If you are quick enough you might find a deleted post on a snapshot of the thread that Google makes when its robot visits it. I once caught a deleted post made by a member who came back after a banishment.

Probably best to directly message one of the moderators. Long, long ago a moderator making an edit would identify themselves to you, but not now - although the time-zone should be sufficient.

There are only half-a-dozen and all entirely reasonable - indeed helpful - in my experience.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Yes, just "Report" to reach all mods, or send a DM to any one of us.

I was the moderator who made a mistake. I was deleting a rude post - not yours, but you quoted it, with only a short comment, so I was deleting yours too. I accidentally gave the reason - "Rude..." etc. that was intended for the other. So, I "Undeleted" yours and deleted again with the reason "Quoted post deleted." However it is possible that the software didn't send that second message. I probably should have sent you a DM instead, to explain, but I was on my phone and didn't do so. I apologize for this. In future I should leave things alone if I don't have time to take more care.

I am explaining all this in public because I think it is good for people to understand that moderators are checking all day, often on the run, doing various functions. Most of the time it appears seamless and successful. Sometimes we make mistakes or get impatient. But never is it nefarious! 🙃
