I think I already know, but I need to double check.

I land in London Gatwick and have more than enough time to clear customs before catching a flight to Madrid. No checked baggage, just a carry-on.

At Madrid airport, there is a 60 minute window until a one of the flights to A Coruna. Landing is at Terminal 1, departure is at Terminal 2. Again, no baggage to claim, just a carry-on.

If the Gatwick flight is on-time, is that 60 minute window to catch the A Coruna flight adequate?

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I have only connected there twice, it is a long "trot" from one terminal to another but you are fortunate to only be going from T1 to T2. I assume "Brexit" or not you will only have to clear customs at Gatwick and not have issues in Spain, however I have run into security checks between some of the terminals in the Eurozone. Can't remember if that is the situation at Barajas.

Thanks, Don. That is what I am thinking, too. The travel between the two terminals is not that time consuming, depending on the Gates, but the Security check can be the chokepoint. :)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
davebugg - great to see you back on the Camino. I think you'll be cutting it fine, however, bearing in mind you may have to get to the gate for the flight to Coruna in good time. Are you checked in for that flight online?

I can confirm it's a short walk from passport control in Terminal 1 (which you will have to go through, as the UK isn't a Schengen country) to Terminal 2. Just try to get off the plane first (if you're flying easyJet it's a bit of a walk to passport control)

Good luck!

Maybe you’ve looked at this already but 2 years ago I was looking at flights from A Coruña to London. If I recall correctly, there were flights on Easyjet or one of the other budget airlines from A Coruña or SdC to Gatwick.
We didn’t take one because it suited better to fly to Stanstead.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

Thanks, Glen. Sorry for the confusion, but I wouldn't be flying that specific route until October 17. Right now I am choosing between an October 16 departure from either Seattle to Gatwick vs Seattle to Madrid. The deciding factor is how early I am able to get from either Madrid or Gatwick to A Coruna.

I have been into MAD three times, the latest last November, but I want to make sure that I am remembering terminal locations relative to each other correctly, as well as the process for Customs upon arrival into Madrid if flying from Gatwick.

Your information is helpful. :-)

I can't find any direct flights from Gatwick to Coruna in October. (Or any other time of year.) easyJet fly to SdC on Weds and Sats, but on 16 October the flight leaves at 6:00. So it looks like Madrid.

When flying from the UK to Spain you will have to pass through Spanish immigration control and have your passport stamped. Not a problem unless you arrive at the same time as a Boeing 747 from the US!

This map will give you an idea of the layout at Madrid: terminals 1-3 are all basically one long building. I regularly walk from T1 to T3 for the Metro, which takes about 12 minutes at a trot.

Thanks, Glen. You've given me some great information. You are absolutely correct about Gatwick to A Coruna, there are no direct flights, which is why I have to be careful about the timing of catching a flight to Madrid and then making the connection to A Coruna. There are two good choices, but the earliest flight that I can catch going from Madrid to A Coruna arrives in that airport about 3 hours prior to the other.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
