Hope to cycle it this year (2016)
Hi

My mate and I will be cycling the Camino Frances during October.

1. Can I just use comfortable trainers, given that we'll be cycling with open pedals, or would you recommend something more specialised?

2. We'll be travelling throughout October. What clothing would you recommend we should take?

Cheers
Rich

Hola - from Astorga the camino trail climbs to over 1400 metres (twice - at the Cruz and O'Cebreiro) and given that it can AND does snow on these high hills I would come prepared, particularly if its late in October. Also it rains something like 200 days per year in Galicia. So a good, waterproof, rain jacket and maybe the pants (if you feel the cold); I also had full fingered gloves (as well as my mittens) and a light thermal cap that went under my helmet (but then I do feel the cold). If you have panniers or a back pack also ensure that they are waterproof or water-tight.
Hope this helps. Buen Camino ;)

We are going to bike it the first time, sorry (but we are mindful of walkers :)). If there are any folks w biking experience…we are trying to settle the pedal assist e-bike or mountain bike...
Hope to do st Jean de port to finisterre in September 24 on bike. To buy a bike in Ireland and transport or buy in France. Any thoughts welcomed
Is there a dedicated guide for cyclists that suggests alternatives to the rocky/steep parts of the trail? I found a link to a 2018 one on another thread, but it is no longer available.
