2020 2024
Hi everyone!
I'm planning my second Camino for October. I have already walked the French way in January 2020 I would like to find the Northern path. I would not like to walk in total solitude, how many people will I find in that period?
Thank you

October is my favorite month to walk. You will be lucky to run into more than 2 or 3 people. Usually, I walked alone all day, but I did get rained often, especially in Galicia.

Not a lot! Walked the first part from Biarritz to Bilbao in October and was mostly just my wife and I. Albergues start closing down in mid-October, so keep an eye on that, too.

I've done a section in October and had better weather than in the month of June. It wasn't busy but we (2 Camino friends and I) were far from alone. As mentioned above, some albergues close mid October but we were lucky since some decided to stay open until the end of October, maybe because there were more pilgrims than usual?

I set off on 1st October 2022 and thought it would be very quiet, but I was pleasantly surprised to discover quite a few pilgrims. However, after Bilbao, it thinned out considerably. I think leaving on 22nd October will be much quieter. When I walked, quite a few Albergues were closed or closing for the year, so check ahead. But accommodation was never a problem as you will always find a place.

I’ll see you there:)

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

478 pilgrims, 35 tourists and numerus locals. Last fall I walked del Norte 20 Sep to 15 Oct. Albergues/hostels were nearly full wherever I stopped. There were about 6 walking at my relatively fast pace I would see at various times of the day for most of the trek, and many others I knew by name, but would see only on a few occasions.. Most days I could walk for hours without seeing other pilgrims, but always found friends in the coffee shops to talk or walk with if I wanted. You will be fine. Buen Camino

My experience is as above. Yes, you will find others, but not a lot. Having said that, its not a lonely experience as there are always a lot of day trippers on most of the route (Hah - Maybe not as many in October!)
