Hello fellow pilgrims,

I am currently working on my Bachelor thesis, which focuses on the Camino de Invierno.
To support my research, I need insights from other pilgrims about their experiences on the Camino de Invierno.

It would be amazing if you could help me by completing a short survey, which takes about 8–10 minutes to complete.

Important: For accurate data, please note that the relevant sections of the Camino de Invierno begin after Ponferrada and extend to Lalín, as the route crosses other Caminos at these points.

Thank you so much for your help!
Buen Camino!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Hi @InviernoJan

Some of the questions are more for an interview, rather than a survey. Having walked +10 Caminós, asking the differences between them is a thesis in it self.

Some of the questions seem to assume you are a Pilgrim?

No question of when I walked or how many times I have walked the invierno?

The number in the walking group, Solo or a Group doesn’t really give you the chance to analyse the participants. Maybe try changing the mix:
1. Solo
2. 2-5 walkers
3. 6+

If you would like to PM me, I’m happy to add more details and context. There is so much to really love about the Invierno.

All the best with your studies.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
The group question doesn't account for couples well.
Looking back it was the nature that I remember best. Very few birds which surprised me but we did find reptiles, deer, evidence of pigs and wolves. And butterflies!
But we are wildlife nerds :)

Fail to prepare? reduce your risk by buying this book full of practical info.

Hi Sidknee, can you email me some more details and context about the Camino Invierno? We are making plans for spring 2025, thinking about the Camino del Norte from Gijon (we did the first part in 2024) or the Camino Invierno. Our problem is that we can’t carry our backpacks like before. Considering we have done the Camino Francaise, Camino Portuguese, Via Podiensis, we don’t have many roads left. I was told that there is a private guy on the Camino Invierno who can help us with backpack delivery, but who knows how many years he will be willing to do this job. That’s why I want to do the Canimo Invierno first and then complete the Camino del Norte in a year, a road where the backpack delivery service is supported by Spanish Post. Any hint from you would be very much appreciated. My email is (email address removed, please use the forum's direct messaging feature) Best regards. Irina

Best to start your own thread on the Invierno forum: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/camino-de-invierno-from-ponferrada.79/

There's information about bag transport in this thread
