Bonjour,

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi, Dylan38, Welcome to the forum.

Just a heads up that the forum operates in English - I’ve used google translate to give members an idea of what you have asked—

Hello,

We would like to follow the Catalan Santiago Way (Sant Jaume) for two weeks, starting from Girona. Do you think there is affordable accommodation for pilgrims along the route in this season (January)? If so, how can we find it? Beforehand or on site?

Thanking you in advance for your feedback,

Hi Dylan 38,

I've done it from Port de la Selva to Tàrrega. To plan I have used Calllum's guide and it has gone quite well.
You have to think that there are few hostels for pilgrims, also that it is very low season for other accommodations. .My recommendation is to call or write before leaving home.
I had difficulty in Artés, I had to take a bus to Manresa and the next day take it again in the opposite direction.

This is the guide I use: Le Chemin

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Sorry,

It's better in english for everyone yes !

You think it will be difficult to find hosting in this part ? Are there pelegrims houses on the road able to advice us ?

You can use Gronze to locate accommodations

Last time I was in Perpignan at the Pilgrim Office/Albergue there, in either 2021 or 2022, they told me that instead of the old route, Catalonia was prioritising a route from Girona towards Montserrat via Sils > Sant Celoni > ... then Sant Cugat del Valles > Montserrat.

I've no idea how things have developed onwards since then, except that some Albergues have opened on that route.

When I walked between Girona and Igualada via Vic and Manresa in 2019, there was little in terms of Camino infrastructure until I reached Igualada ; though I did skip Montserrat.

From Manresa to at least Tàrrega, the accommodations information on the Camino Ignaciano website is very helpful :

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Bonjour,
I have Callum's book and I've found it quite useful. I'm walking from El Port de la Selva to Finisterre in March and had a few problems whilst researching accommodation.
For example, after Girona he suggests stopping at Amer, 26km's away. According to the book, the cheapest place to stay is Restaurant Fonda Girait but when I checked their website to confirm they do accommodation too, it gave my computer a virus. There are some other options in the area and surrounding towns but they are too expensive for me, as far as I can work out. I'm going to walk the 55km's to Sant Esteve D'en Bas where there is a private albergue. After that though, the cost of accommodation looks to be cheaper and more abundant.
The book does have phone numbers for every place offering rooms but I have a huge dislike of using the phone so if I can't book it on Hotels or Booking .com I'll take a chance and see what happens when I get there. A normal person would probably use the phone and be better prepared.
Profitez de votre voyage.

Lodging in Sant Cugat is expensive. I used a relatively cheap AirBnB in 2019 that no longer operates. The good news is that there is an alberg in Terrassa between Sant Cugat and Montserrat.
