Well having told the old computer what year it is (again) I managed to transfer the photos. Then I had to find a floppy disc o_O as it couldn't take a modern USB stick :(. Next step - find the external floppy disc drive for the old XP . Finally success :):) So here they are..........

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Will try, but currently thinking of walking about then. "One of those relics that hasn't been recycled yet."? Sounds like me!
I like it, but relics are so useful!! Ours will be spared the recycling for a while longer yet - the phone is the same vintage.
Maybe I should change the word to 'vintage' rather than 'relic' - and imply maturing gently like good wine.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
My ears are burning any way its hot up here! Rabanal is a must stop for me, even if I have to sleep on the porch(which I will) as long as i can come in for a shower! Was going to to do that yesterday but the place was hopping only like spanish towns can, so decided that even if I slept rough I was not going to get any sleep, so bit the bullet with a vastly OP hotel. Have to be in Burgos for the 2nd July my gf wants to walk for a few days with me, then leave Leon no later than 10/7 and take it easy from Leon,I fly out of A Coruna on the 25th.

Hope that if South Devon keep meeting then walks and some kind of waymarked route to Plymouth comes out of it.

I am having an incredible time even when its really difficult, I think I entered this camino with an attitude of 'que sera, que sera' and you never really know how things and feelings will be until you are in them but 'Viva Camino de Santiago'.

Mike
Hi Mike - Great to hear that Rabanal's a 'must stop' for you! We'll expect you around the 13th but you know the welcome's going to be there whichever day you turn up!
Keep up that "no worries" attitude Mike, and Buen Camino!
Cheers -

Dear Tia it was great to meet you all on Saturday, it gave me enormous encouragement, and insight -and has stayed with me all week, feeling I might be able to do it!
No might about it. I'm sure you will be able to and I look forward to hearing/reading about your experience when you get back.
Buen Camino Annie ;)

Just to say that our next get together will be Monday 8th September in Exeter; 11.30am onwards in the cafe behind the Cathedral. More info later.
Maybe a meeting in November. Thoughts folks!

Edited for change of venue
:)

Perfect memento/gift in a presentation box. Engraving available, 25 character max.
A note to update folk re September meeting.

It looks as though we will be too many for the little cafe area at Darts Farm so I have edited my previous post to reflect the change back to Exeter.
We will confirm later but all being well can book us into Serlos again at least to start. If it is nice we can sit outside or on the Cathedral Green, if damp/cool etc then there is more room to sit together and hopefully food to suit us all.

So Monday Sept 8th, 11.30am onwards at the Cathedral cafe. Car users - P&R the best one is signed from junction 30 off the M5 and at the Sandygate rdbt if coming from Sidmouth etc. Buses to Exeter and follow the signs to the cathedral. If using any P&R please make sure that you know which colour it is as they leave the city from different areas.

Exeter sounds great - I will certainly try to get there this time (in June I was trying to cross the King's Sedgemoor Drain on a bicycle!) I hope I have managed to 'bookmark' this thread as it took me aons to find it again (technophobic luddite...)

Just a reminder that we will meet at Serlos (Cathedral cafe) next Monday (8th), see above. All being well they will take a booking again. If so it will be in the name 'Camigos' so first there try asking, and if they have not reserved anything then please ask for space for between 8 - 12 of us. The corner 2 tables worked well last time so I am hoping they will put us there again. See you all there. :)

Looking forward to it Valeria see you there:)

Hello. I am very new and although I have been avidly reading the forum for weeks, I have only just joined.
Would it be OK for me to join you at Exeter Cathedral Cafe on Monday?
As I plan to leave for Leon in 4 weeks time for my first Camino it would be wonderful to meet up with you so that I can learn from your experiences- and hopefully feel less apprehensive as a result!

@Al the optimist and @pilgrim b Hola again to you both (all). We are looking at September 8th or 9th - either Serlos again (easier for those on train/bus) or Darts Farm which is easier for those with cars, but P&R services are easy access from M5 and other routes.
There is more space at the Cathedral cafe and also seating outside. (Not sure why we didn't think to migrate outside on Saturday)

Any thoughts folks??
Hello new post from Uplyme. I would very much like to attend the September 8/9th meeting at Exeter or Darts Farm. Looking forward to further information.

Please say Hi to the others for me. Next time maybe.
Buen Camino

It was good to meet all the other camigos today,14 people came. Since the day is quite pleasant we eventually went outside, some people had gone home by the time the photos were taken IMG_20140908_131801606_HDR.webpIMG_20140908_131815450.webp

Thanks Mike. It was good to see everyone and Serlos was good too. Hope everyone had a safe journey home.
Annie, folk wish you a Buen Camino and trust that you will get there OK. Where are you walking from?

Hi Tia from St jean - I'll just see how far I go - I can always do a few days weeks and return - just want to take in the spirit of the journey - Kind regards to you Annie

Great to meet so many people at Serlos, it is invigorating getting to talk 'Camino' with so many interesting folk. Good luck Annie, I hope you remembered to wave at St James as you went?!
Luckily I did wave to him - as when I returned to my car 45 minutes overtime - I DIDN'T have a ticket!!!
Someone suggested meeting up for a walk maybe - sounds like a good idea.
I have now hoicked my walking boots out of the shed and I'm going to walk to my mother's tomorrow - as I am all excited about going a'pilgrimage again!
Thanks Tia for organising such a good meet...

Take joy in every step, Annie, and Buen Camino!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

thank you Jenny - excited and full of trepidation!
Cheers Annie! You are going to LOVE being on those ancient paths - every moment is precious - and you'll be in Camino mode so quickly, after that first overwhelming step. To be a pilgrim is one of the most wonderful and special things imaginable.
Very best wishes to you for everything you hope and wish for on your Camino -

Annie, when do you arrive in Sjjp?
I might see you somewhere along the way through La Rioja. Buen Camino.

'Buen Camigos meeting' everyone! Have a wonderful time.

I was lucky to be able to attend a second meeting of the camigos. It was great to meet more members of the group. Also stayed with Tia and Terry that night before returning to Spain. Very kind and hospitable hosts. Thank you.
Now i am near Valencia enjoying the beach house with my Spanish family. Buen Camino to all.

We had a really good time in Exeter on Monday. We missed those who couldn't make it, but it was great to meet new folk and enjoy their company. Then we enjoyed more Camino fellowship with 'enfermera' before setting her on her way on Tuesday morning and then going for a walk up our local hills.

One day we will get a meeting with a walk - various suggestions have been made. One is more practical for winter maybe and others for 'better weather'. Meanwhile best wishes to all Camigos - those actually living in S Devon and especially those further afield.

when are you going?
We are working in Provence in nov/dec and hope to be able to walk some of the Via Aurelia while we are there - just a week I expect, but looking forward to it nonetheless. Especially as we are taking our dog - it might be his last Camino...! But after walking 10 miles yesterday I was waddling like a duck! So I definitely need to train a bit...

An idea for November:-
We have talked a few times about meeting at Buckfast Abbey so I am going to suggest that we go there on Saturday 29th November as a final meeting for this year (2014).
On that Saturday there is an Advent Carol service in the Abbey at 4.30 with choirs from across S Devon. If you like to meet for tea about 2.30/2.45 onwards to chat you can then attend the service if you want to. Do get to the 'Granary' tea-room before 3.30 as the massed choirs will descend on it shortly after that (at the end of their choir practise) and last year there were 80 of us :). Terry would expect to be there for tea, I will be with the choirs so will arrive when the practise ends. The Granary is worth visiting for the new mural panels, painted by a nun, of the re-building of the abbey.
The service usually lasts about 1 hour and is a mix of readings, choir items and congregational carols.

A meeting with a difference, but hopefully some of you will be able to be there. Good parking and some buses from Plymouth and Exeter - but please check your own times for these.

I understand that Buckfast Abbey specialises in Honey Bees, sadly there are two b's that won't be able to make it to the meeting this time. ~Have a lovely time we will be thinking of you all.:)

It sounds lovely, Tia. I had hoped to join you at the last meeting but didn't reply in case I couldn't manage it, which I couldn't. As it happens I've felt a lot better recently and surprised myself at how stronger I am at walking, but it's still a day at a time. Still not sure if I can make it to Buckfast Abbey as it's a long way for me by bus, but you never know! It's a fab place. I visited many years ago and would love to do so again. In any case, I hope to, but if not I hope you have a great meeting. :)

Sounds like a good idea. Did not your group existed. Will definitely come and meet you all. Have just returned from spending 7 weeks on the North route again. This time I did it the easy way in the motor-home to show my wife where I had walked. It was still very special and I had the pleasure of meeting many pilgrims and attending the mass. See you at Buckfast.

Hello,
I am going to walk the Camino Ingles in early December with a friend. It is my first Camino. Actually, it is my first proper 'walk'. As you may imagine I have a lot going through my mind at the moment. We are on Devon this weekend and I was wondering if tomorrow's meeting is still taking place? I would love to join.

Thanks Ver

@Al the optimist - I think they were latte, but I had orange and arrived after choir practise.....

We are starting to think about getting together again this year - 2015. However to avoid confusion I will start a new thread 'Camigos in S Devon - 2015' and abandon this one :)

In view of the age of this thread I am asking the Moderators to lock it.
There are other threads for 2015 onward. All start with the name 'Camigos in S Devon' followed by the year of posting.
