Hi to everyone! Is there a bus from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port to Pamplona, please? Have any of you taken it, by any chance? This year, I’m planning to hike from Le Puy-en-Velay to SJPdP, finishing my hike there. Then, I will want to get to Pamplona reasonably fast and on to Barcelona and back home to Warsaw, Poland. I do know that, in the summer, there’s an Alsa bus from Pamplona to SJPdP at 12:00 noon, just one service a day, which gets to SJPdP at 13:45. Then it probably returns to Pamplona, but when? A bit later on the same day or maybe in the morning on the following day? I will be pressed for time, hence this question. I’ll be really grateful for any info you may offer. Many thanks for your help, Andrzej

Train for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island March 30 to April 2
...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
or walking over the hill, which is free but takes a day.
If you make good time on the Le Puy to SJPdP ., you will be fit. Maybe even have banked yourself an extra day ??
So you could possibly fit in the following ??
Ie A few people I walked with on the Le Puy chose to walk to Roncesvalles from SJPdP, while they were still trail fit., rather than call the halt at SJPdP …
So eventually when they returned to walk to Santiago …. They wouldn’t need to ‘start ‘ the walk with the climb over the hill into Spain./ if you can manage that ; then it’s not as expensive to get back to Pamplona from Roncesvalles.

And of course there are two other options: a taxi for something well north of €100, or walking over the hill, which is free but takes a day.
EUR 100 is a bit pricy for a taxi ride for just one person. Besides, a really tall hiker here (195 cm), more comfortable in a bus with more legroom :-) And as to walking over a hill, which takes an extra day... Like I said, I'll be pressed for time.

Yes, I'm sure you're right. And it does sound like good advice to keep walking to R. so as to avoid the climb into Spain the following year. But I'm afraid that I have no intention of returning to Camino Frances once I get to SJPdP. It's far too crowded for my liking (266,000 people a year according to the latest statistcs). Therefore, I'm more inclined to hike Camino del Norte instead (23,000 people a year). And I love the sea, too. Still, many thanks for your suggestion.

Last summer the returning ALSA bus to Pamplona left SJPDP at 13:45. No guarantee that will be the same this year though.
Many thanks for this info. So it's probably going to be 13:45 or so, after all. Good to know what to expect timewise. Luckily, it's only 22 km from Ostabat-Asme to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port, so I should be able to make it.
