I plan to travel to Santo Domingo de la Calzada to continue walking an 8/10 day Camino.I wonder if anyone has advice on the easiest way to travel there.Should I use Madrid or Bilbao airports and what is the best way to get to Santo Domingo? Will I have to go to Logrono and bus/taxi to Santo Domingo from there or, any other suggestions welcome.Thanks.

If I was you and if you don't want to waste time I would go with Bilboa. The airport bus will drop you at the bus station and from there you can go to either Logrono or Burgos. I've taken a bus from Santo Domingo to Burgos so I know that service exists and since Santo Domingo is in La Rioja I presume there are buses from Logrono too (I know there's a bus to Najera, and it's possibly the same service - sorry can't remember the name of the company).

According to rome2rio there are buses every 30 minutes from the bus terminal in Bilboa to Haro and buses twice a day from Haro to Santo Domingo de la Calzada. The overall trip is about 2 hours and cost $12 to $13. The bus from the Bilbao airport to the Bilbao bus terminal is every 20 minutes or so. Worse case is you might have to spend a night in Haro, the center of the Rioja wine region.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Thanks guys. Will look at the Haro option I think. Thanks for taking the trouble to advise.Safe travels.

It's up to you but I'd be careful about trusting a website like rome2rio when it comes to local bus services in Spain. Already one every 30 minutes to Haro sounds suspect. From what I can see on the bus company's website they're about one every two hours https://cuadrabuslineas.com/

You'll have far more connections if you go through Logrono.

On the other hand Haro to Santo Domingo is only about 20km so you could always walk it.
