Hello everyone,
In 2016 I did the entire walk from France into Santiago. A friend has asked me if I would do the the portion from Sarria into Santiago this spring.
What is the best and most efficient way to get from London, Ontario to Sarria Spain.
Thank You,

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Some friends got a very good flight from Calgary on Expedia multicity into Santiago and then home from Porto, it was cheaper and shorter even adding in the bus from Santiago to Porto, might be worth checking.

I would fly from Toronto on an Air Canada direct flight to Madrid and take the train to Sarria. You could stay a night or two in Madrid to get over jetlag or take an extra day in Sarria before you start walking. It is easy to connect to the train from the airport in Barajas.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
Toronto to Lisboa. Lisboa to Santiago. Empresa Freire bus Santiago airport to Lugo. Monbus Lugo to Sarria.

Alternate Toronto to Porto. Autna bus from Porto airport to Vigo. Monbus Vigo to Santiago. etc.

Air Transat goes to Porto.

Air Transat goes to Madrid and Porto. I’d fly to Madrid, train to Sarria, and return from Porto, but I like mixing things.

If you fly with Air Canada, you could fly out of your London and save some airport hassle.

I’d play with the Rome2rio and kayak sites but book with the airline if possible. You might find a deal out of Detroit.

There is one direct train daily from Madrid charmatin station to sarria that leaves in the early afternoon and one direct overnight train that I believe only operates 6 of the 7 days . You can see trains and book them in English on the raileurope.co.uk website . Renfe posts trains about 60 days prior to departure . You can set up an alert on the raileurope website to let you know when trains for your travel date become available . There is a commuter train from Madrid airport (terminal t4) to charmatin station that takes about 15 minutes and runs about four times every hour . Charmatin station is small and very easy to navigate. If you have the time , i have found it nice to spend the first night in Madrid (relax and explore Madrid some) and take the train the next day to start my camino .

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Hi Rosemary. Can't help with your query but wanted to say hello as a fellow Londoner! I completed about 175k of the Portuguese route in November and thoroughly enjoyed it. I will likely do the Sarria route this year some time. Buen Camino. Jeff Hermann

There are direct trains from both Madrid and Barcelona to Sarria but the train from Barcelona is a long journey.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
