Over the New Year holiday I listened to this very nicely done podcast from the BBC about medieval pilgrimage. It was amusing to realize how completely familiar the medieval debates around pilgrimage were. Without the mods here, we'd likely be arguing endlessly about the same things as they were.

I’m a great fan of Melvyn Braggs “In Our Time”, which is one of the really great podcasts, including the Medeival Pilgramages. However, for a good understanding of the detailed history of of the Camino Pilgrimages the Scolarly Pilgrim is my recommendation.
