After much thought and consultation of the weather oracles (including forum sages) we have decided out November trip will be backwards. No not walking with backs first but from North to South in the hope that we will be walking into the warmer areas (and not the reverse).

As a result we chosen to start in El Ferrol and complete the Camino Inglés into Santiago, then keep heading down the Camino Portugés. Not quiet a reterno but it will take the pressure off as we won't have to battle through the rain to meet a deadline to get to Santiago and can enjoy the trip what ever the weather. We also like the idea of "coast to coast" and we contemplated a costal start (Cadiz) on the Via de la Plata walk but ended up starting in Seville.

So if you see a couple of drowned rats walking backwards in November, could well be us.
Hel's even had a new merino petticoat made to keep her warm!

Cheers

Re: Backwards - Weather

In answer to those who asked what our weather research shows, average temps (high and low) with expected daily rainfall is shown in the graph below for Early Nov to December...

For comparrision, it says at the moment Auckland has a temp range of 8 and 14 °C with an expected 3mm of rain (i.e. a humidity of 88% - pouring rain more like 3m per hour), given it’s one of the warmer days it’s been this winter we can expect to be cold and wet on the camino!
