Asturias Tourism has a tender to provide reels for Caminos in that area.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
For my clarification - in my understanding reels is an antiquated english term before digital, but perhaps not for the video specialists. But now I know it has been repurposed as an Instagram term for short videos of 30 to 90 seconds in vertical format with specific paramaters.

"Service for the design and production of videos in reel format of the Camino de Santiago in its passage through Asturias"

So Asturias is to appeal to the Instagram crowd.

So that's what they do with my tax money... 😅

Very strange. Tourism in Asturias is growing every year sinds Covid19. Last summer the word 'overtourism' appeared regularly in the local newspapers. On the Norte pilgrims have to compete with a huge number of tourists flocking together on the coast. The numbers on the Primitivo have been growing steadily as well the last 10 years or so. So no idea why they thought this would be a good idea.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Are they talking about Instagram and Facebook "reels"?
I guess if we have to ask what the description of the contract means then this shows that we are not qualified to submit a tender 😂. This is a public procurement procedure. Here is the Deepl.com translation from ES to EN:

The purpose of this contract is to provide services of the design and the production of videos in reel format about the touristic resources of the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Asturias, in its three main itineraries (parts 1 to 3, the Camino de la Costa, Camino Primitivo, and Camino del Salvador), as well as a general video of the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Asturias (part 4), all within the framework of the Plan for Recovery, Transformation and Resilience - Funded by the European Union - Next GenerationEU.

The videos have to be done in six languages: (alemán, español, francés, inglés, italiano y portugués). The objectives are:
  • Visual objective: The audiovisual works should promote the Camino de Santiago as a resource that fosters territorial cohesion, promoting rural and cultural development and knowledge of the values of the region.

  • Target audience: The videos will be aimed at both the local community and potential tourists and pilgrims, both in Spain and in international markets.
And yes, it is for the Sociedad Pública de Gestión y Promoción Turística y Cultural del Principado de Asturias SAU ("SPGP") and they want to use the videos for the digital promotion of the Camino de Santiago in the social networks of the SPGP.
