Was thinking the same myself. The Val Carlos would make a nice change but then, at 72 next year, I think I might be wary of walking unless there is a vacine. Actually, more wary of travelling to and from the camino. Even with a pair of Ivar's masks, dont like being in any kind of crowd. If it happens however, it will be early April or late MarchThinking about it. Depends on the state of the world and if all the virus stuff has settled down. Would like to walk the Val Carlos route this time, sort of end of April. If things are not settled, then perhaps next Sept. I hit 65 this year and though fit, would like to get a few more Caminos in before I get too ancient.
Yep, same hereActually, more wary of travelling to and from the camino.
I loved the Valcarlos route so much I've done it twice. For me it's the Napoleon route that would maybe be a nice future change. Was thinking the same myself. I and my partner plan on walking the Frances starting mid-April 2021. We walked a good portion in 2018 and want to do the pilgrimage in it's entirety. It was advertised as being a walk of 30-35 days. We both can walk 25 clicks in a day, we just can't do it every day!!Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
The Good: Our airfare cost only $110 per ticket, one way! Depending on the circumstances we can bail in Lisbon and do a different walk or fly onto Barcelona and work our way up to St. Jean.
The Bad: TAP no longer flies to San Francisco and, indeed, may not even exist as an entity in 2021.
Oh well. Did I tell you that the fare was only one hundred and ten bucks?!!!!!
At the moment (in the last days) the new cases do not rise any longer in Spain. And the deaths are far below the number of deaths in the first wave.... Not sure why we don't plan on getting two weeks of food for everybody, along with two weeks of pay, and really shut the world down. Too much "But I'm special" going round. Yes, I know it's unrealistic.
I'm not planning to make plans until March or April at the earliest, and that will be for a September Camino del Norte.I think if you’re going to make plans with the coronavirus in mind, you won’t actually know until very near that time.
@Stephan the PainterI’ve been thinking of starting a little earlier. Starting the CF in February from Roncevalles, and then finishing around the end of March. Of course assuming that we have an effective vaccine, or other extremely good and safe news.
I think if you’re going to make plans with the coronavirus in mind, you won’t actually know until very near that time. So one can make plans, but must be willing to change them.
People are dIf only.
I doubt that much will change between now and April 2021 Susan.
I would if I could, safely. Not likely.
Later in the year? Perhaps.
people are currently walking - I just don’t know how it’s all working out right now...Was thinking the same myself. Not to derail this thread, Rev, and I’m pretty sure you already know this, but the Mozarabic San Miguel de la Escalada is a mere 14 kms away and AMAZING.April 7, 2021: I plan to arrive at Mansilla de las Mulas -- where my last walk ended -- and then push on into the west.
If Spain lets me in.
April or May for me, not settled yet.Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
My wife and I, we have plans to start it end on Marsch, but there is so many ifs!Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
Hopefully!!Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
I have my plane ticket arriving on March 30th Biarritz. Wearing my mask and if I need to camp it is ok , I am not going to party but to think and ask for guidanceWho’s walking the Francis next April?!
Probably trueApril 2021 is my target date for walking the Norte, exactly a year later than my foiled plans this year, but I'm not holding my breath. I see nothing necessarily magic between the year 2020 and 2021...they are unfortunately only numbers.
I’ve booked starting the end of April 2021 and fingers crossed will be able to goWho’s walking the Francis next April?!
I am hoping to start in mid-April, if Spain decides to allow Americans in! Also thinking about going a little earlier, we will see... Question: For those who are experienced C. de Francis walkers, where do you suggest to fly in to? I'll be coming from Florida..Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
Me, too, if I am let out of USA flight jail... but I'm not booking yet.I’ve booked starting the end of April 2021 and fingers crossed will be able to go

Wishing yoy a wonderful and covid free Camino! Hope you are well prepared with masks and hand sanitizer.Hoping to start the end of March will be my first time so full of excitement.
Hi Susan, I hope this reply finds you well, I hope/plan to walk the way of Saint Francis Italy in April 2021 all being well ..... is this also your plan?Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
Hi Jdsssss thanks for replying ..... are you walking the Camino France route to Santiago or The Way of Saint Francis in Italy? My Camino was to be this year but rescheduled to 2021 .......I am still planning to begin my Camino on April 22nd. Hopefully loads of the vaccine have been issued and we will be grand. Either way, we will spend much of the time outdoors so as long my flight is going I plan to be there!
Hello Chrissy thank you for replying .... 5 woahhhh what Camino will you walk 2021? Have you walked the way of Saint Francis to Rome?I am/was planning to start my April 2020 derailed Camino in April 2021, but living in the US I think it may still be a bit premature. If so, then hopefully I will go in the fall, which would be a first for me, as all five others have been in Spring.
I have not yet walked The Way of St. Francis, but have been to Assissi (loved it) and Rome, so it has practically been at the top of my list, once I complete the balance of the Norte as I turned onto the Primitivo prior, combined with walking on to Muxia and Finesterre. Those were the plans I had in place for 2020.Hello Chrissy thank you for replying .... 5 woahhhh what Camino will you walk 2021? Have you walked the way of Saint Francis to Rome?
I agree, Camino Chrissy. Given how the case numbers and hospitalizations are near cataclysmic for hospitals in the USA and vaccinations ( in arms) in USA have been far slower than anticipated, I do not think it is realistic that April travel to Spain is likely.I am/was planning to start my April 2020 derailed Camino in April 2021, but living in the US I think it may still be a bit premature. Yes the Camino France route. I walked from Sarria a few years ago, but am keen to do the full Camino. I turn 40 in January and have already done Las Vegas a couple of times so this will be something different lol are you planning to walk in Italy?Hi Jdsssss thanks for replying ..... are you walking the Camino France route to Santiago or The Way of Saint Francis in Italy? I hope to be walking ...... I will certainly share my experience, thank you, will look forward to staying in touch with you hereI have not yet walked The Way of St. Francis, but have been to Assissi (loved it) and Rome, so it has practically been at the top of my list, once I complete the balance of the Norte as I turned onto the Primitivo prior, combined with walking on to Muxia and Finesterre. If you go this coming spring, I hope you will post about your experiences!
I want to walk as soon as it is permitted to leave the UK and travel within Spain. As to when that will be, well: if you want to hear God laugh, tell him (or her) your plans.Who’s walking the Francis next April?!
I think you have made a good decision you won’t regret it I was lucky to walk the Camino France route 6 years ago ...... I was due to take a sabbatical this year but have rescheduled to April 2021, I have been looking at the Caminos in Italy but depending on the situation everywhere like everyone just playing it by ear .......Yes the Camino France route. I walked from Sarria a few years ago, but am keen to do the full Camino. I turn 40 in January and have already done Las Vegas a couple of times so this will be something different lol are you planning to walk in Italy?

Hi ClareLou, forgive my ignorance - you’re talking about walking in Italy? Is that correct?Hi Susan, I hope this reply finds you well, I hope/plan to walk the way of Saint Francis Italy in April 2021 all being well ..... is this also your plan?
I haven’t booked a flight as of yet. But, Orrison did confirm with me that my reservation was still on for early April 2021. I mention Orrison as it’s the only bed that I worry about that early in on the Camino! LolI've booked a flight to Biarritz for 30th March. It's nice to have it on the calendar, but I'm very comfortable with the fact that it may not be possible or appropriate.
Hello Susan lovely to hear from you yes Italy was the plan but subject to location change depending on everything .....Hi ClareLou, forgive my ignorance - you’re talking about walking in Italy? Is that correct?
