Starting the Aragones in Somport on Friday-7/02. Anyone else headed that way? If so, hope to see you on the route or at an Albergue in the evening.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm planning a side trip to SJdlP. Unlike other caminos I've walked, this one will have an emphasis on enjoying historical/points of interest.A friend is in Lumbier tonight, he started way back on the Island of Mallorca and then went over to Catalonia. The photos that have stood out most was the day on the way to San Juan de la Pena, which I knew from various reports was a bit special, but from his photos and videos just wow. I hope you have a great camino and if you feel confident about detouring it will be worth it.
Looks interesting. Thanks for the suggestion, Vacajoe-sounds like something I would not have found on my own. There is an old-fashioned “tinker” in Sanguesa who fashions metal sculptures of local buildings WITHIN existing copper kettles and such. Worth seeking out for a free tour of his workshop. He is truly a talented and unique artist. Behind the large glass doors next to the door marked 21 Calle Santiago, next to Bar Paxti.

One of my favorite stops along the Aragones. Next favorite is Ruesta.intrepidtraveler,
San Juan Pena is splendid; the site and the historic buildings nestled into that site form a perfect composition. Here is their official web site in English with lots of photos and useful info on times, etc. Don't miss this wonderful complex!
Buen Camino,
Will do, provided that I have adequate wifi.I won't be walking the Aragones until September but would really appreciate those of you who are walking now or in the near future to write more posts about your experience.
Thank you for posting this link. Really looking forward to this side trip.intrepidtraveler,
