Amount of time required to get from the Lisbon airport to Oriente train station

Hi all

My flight lands in Lisbon at 11:15AM........which is a safer purchase.........a 2:00PM departure from Oriente OR a 4:00PM departure?
How long does it typically take to dis-embark, wait for my checked luggage, make my way to the exit, get a taxi, drive to Oriente, grab a bite to eat and then find my train to Porto and then get on it? I'm scared I may miss the 2:00PM if there are any delays!!!!!!

I'd take the 4:00 pm one. We flew into Lisbon and transferred to the train station via the underground. Very slow. We had to run down the platform for the train. As we stepped on board the door closed and away we went. All's well that end's well and all that, but not a relaxing start to a pilgrimage.

If you bought a 2:00 pm ticket, presumably with a seat reservation, would that allow you to board the 4:00 pm one? Albeit without a seat reservation?

Will you have to go through immigration as well? You should probably be out of the airport by 12:00-12:30PM and be at Oriente by 12:45PM at the latest, assuming your plane lands on time. You can take the Lisbon Metro as well. It's only a few stops from the airport to Oriente.

Yes, I was thinking to be safe, the 4:00PM would be better!!

I'm flying from Toronto, Canada so yes, I'd have to go through immigration which I totally forgot about!!! I'll book the 4:00PM. Thanks.

May I recommend if you are not carrying any extra luggage to take your backpack on the plane with you. If the airline, (I know it most probably won't happen) loses your backpack that can screw everything up. Even if you have extra luggage, take your pack on the plane. Unless it is huge it will fit in the overhead. I have a 45 Liter pack and I never have had an issue bringing it on board.

I just landed in Lisbon the other day and there must have been 1000 people lined up for immigration. I'm not kidding. It took a good while so maybe take that into account. The metro to Oriented is quick, only 3 stops. Good luck.

In my experience, checked luggage takes a very very long time to arrive at baggage claim in Lisbon. I also agree with the advice to carry on your pack. If the reason for checking it is because of hiking poles or a pocket knife, I would suggest checking those separately. Replacing everything would not be fun if the bag is lost. It happens rarely, but it does happen. Every year we read reports of this on the forum.

Taxis and Uber are both very plentiful in Lisbon. And very inexpensive. Bom caminho.

Ok thanks for sharing that. It sounds like taking the later train is a much better idea, then I won't be stressed out about missing my train!

Couple months ago we took a taxi, cost 20 euros, but I believe the metro is pretty easy too and much cheaper. Also there is a place you could get your SIM card right before you get out the arrival area if you needed one, but we were walking the Fisherman's trial in Portugal, so not sure how the SIM card work in Spain.
