There are 3 private albergues, within a very short distance of each other, competing for pilgrims on that stage: Pozueta, Gerekiz and Eskerika. Since Gernika has not had budget accommodation for pilgrims for several years, these 3 albergues on the big hill a few km after Gernika take care of almost all pilgrims who cannot, or do not want to pay for a private room in Gernika. But is Pozueta really that outstanding of the three? I would disagree. The three albergues are very similar to each other, all located in Basque caserios (large private houses), the price is almost the same. From my experience the owners are very kind to pilgrims in all of them. In summer, all three fill up and it is necessary to reserve in advance. My question is, how is it possible that one of them could accumulate 63 (!) comments on Gronze while the others got 9 and 6 comments respectively? I'm sorry but my red light is coming on. And I wonder if this thread is genuine praise for that albergue or just part of this promotional campaign. I'm not saying Pozueta is bad in any case, but when you're on the Camino del Norte, please give also the other two albergues a chance. I promise you won't be disappointed. I speak from my own experience, not after reading a ton of (maybe not always 100% genuine) comments at Gronze. And the owner of neither albergue asked me to write this
